1. What are the differences between the seeitgolf DVD and the seeitgolf app?
The aaron baddeley: putting film is just over 15 minutes long and contains a series of successful putts from the point-of-view of the two-time PGA Tour Champion. In addition to the POV angle, viewers experience center-of-the-cup putts with views from behind the putter, behind the cup and overhead.
The film was shot with four "RED" cameras, which capture video 3X the quality of HD. In addition to using this technology, the film:
In addition to the original film, the app for iPad/iPhone includes:
2. How would you best describe the training method behind seeitgolf?
Our approach has been best described as performance training for the mental game. It is conceptually different from the various necessary pre-performance/practice training methods focused on the left-brain oriented tasks of learning, i.e. mastering the mechanical elements of the putting stroke, etc. Any references to swing theories or mechanical principles are intentionally omitted. It is simply our best attempt at recreating a balanced (left brain/right brain) state of mind, ideal for optimal performance.
3. Why are you called "seeitgolf?"
Dr. David Cook was instrumental in the development of the project and his catch-phrase "see it. feel it. trust it." is used with permission. The idea is that seeing leads to feel, and feeling leads to trust. We are centered on the first stage, seeing, so the name evolved into simply seeitgolf.
4. Why are there no spoken or written words in the film?
Spoken and written words prompt more left-brain activity, something we intentionally worked to avoid in our product. When practicing the mechanical elements of the putting stroke, especially with an instructor, key words and swing thoughts are part of the process and the left hemisphere is naturally activated during the process. During performance, however, especially when the putter is about to move, it is imperative for the left hemisphere to quiet and work in concert with the right hemisphere. This balanced state is called synchrony.
Also, there are literally thousands of training tools and instructional DVD's centered on the process of swing improvement. We want to complement these other products in the golf industry by focusing on the outcome rather than the process.
5. How does the "audio training" section with Stan Utley work?
The audio training portion of the app features the audio of nine different putts from world-renowned putting guru and PGA Tour Champion Stan Utley.
The psychological principles behind the method include 1) classical conditioning/stimulus-response (building an association between hearing the putter make contact with the ball and the rattle of the cup) as well as 2) imagery/visualization (practicing the art of seeing the ball in the mind's eye as it rolls along the straight, right-to-left or left-to-right path to the cup.)
6. How often should I use it?
We originally developed a 30-day program with the film, but have since suggested golfers need to watch it as-needed. We have had golfers improve dramatically following a single exposure to the film, while others have experienced better results following multiple viewings.
7. How does the music association work?
We are very interested in building associations with the imagery in the film and music. The app allows for creating, and saving, customized versions of the film with one's own soundtrack. By watching the footage while listening to a specific piece of music, one can then begin to see successful putts roll in the cup in the mind's eye whenever that song is played. We have reports from golfers all over the world who have successfully made these associations and incorporate their music as part of their pre-round routines.
8. Where was this filmed/recorded?
The Aaron Baddeley footage was captured entirely at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Stan Utley audio was captured at Pinnacle Peak Country Club, also in Scottsdale.
